How Technology Is Changing How We Treat Home Decorating Trends

Dining Space Redesign!

When you enjoy something in your home, do you tend to live with it untouched for a long period of time or do you have http://query.nytimes.com/search/sitesearch/?action=click&contentCollection®ion=TopBar&WT.nav=searchWidget&module=SearchSubmit&pgtype=Homepage#/luxury houses a tendency to walk past it every day while it fades into the background? Sort of like being at your Grandma's home where it seems like the same furnishings has remained in the very same sport for your whole life? It's familiar; it's comfortable.

I understand that feeling, just my comfy good friend was in the type of a mirror that held on the dining room wall - for about 9 years that's method too comfy. I've traded out nearly every piece of furnishings under it and around it except for the table itself. Well, it was time to alter things up! It worked for a long time till I got tired of not being able to take images without having the reflection of myself or the kitchen. So, out it went. Instead, I hung the framed chalkboard that I got by making a trade with another supplier back in September when I did a vintage market. I likewise just recently found the pegged racks for a take and added some of my ironstone plates. I might include cups to the left side as well; it's a symmetry thing with me.

The room is a combination of new, old, handcrafted, re-purposed and thrift shop and estate sale discovers. The chandelier was painted a few years back, and I'm trying to choose if I wish to keep it or change it. Thus the factor I have not rewired it to hang lower. We have high vaulted ceilings, so it's up pretty high considering that I swagged it.

The rug is from Pottery Barn this previous year, and the table we've had for about 10 years or more. The buffet was a light wood colour and was the first piece of bed room furnishings I bought as a single lady several years earlier. I cut the legs down and painted it when I relocated it to function as the buffet.

I made or mirrored chest of drawers reupholstered/painted a few items in this area myself, including the curtains, the upholstered bench and pillow, the wreath and the reupholstered antique chair in the corner which you can read about here.

All the ironstone was either found at estate sales or thrift shops. The last thing on our list for this space besides the light component are installing new baseboards since we pulled all of them out to change our floors a number of months ago and have not gotten around to that task yet. Finally, those beautiful spring flowers were a gift from the spouse a few days back. He's a sweetie and stated they were "simply because" and he wanted me to understand that he liked me, how sweet is that?
